Exit Re-entry Permit (ERP)

Who is it for and what are the benefits?

For all temporary and permanent stay visas in Indonesia, such as KITAS Investor or KITAP Spouse, when your visa expires, you must close your visa.

This is generally done using what is known as an EPO (Exit Permit Only); however, this only applies while you are in Indonesia. The EPO must be done prior to departure from Indonesia.

If your visa has expired and you are no longer in Indonesia, then you cannot apply for an EPO, therefore you must apply for an Exit Permit.

Steps to obtain your ERP (Exit Re-entry Permit)

  • Complete all requirements
  • Submit the ERP application at the local immigration office
  • ERP approved
  • Immigration will issue the ERP document

Steps to obtain a Japan Visa

  1. Prepare the required documents to make a Japanese visa - Before applying for a Japanese visa, make sure you prepare the requirements for a Japanese visa.
  2. Apply for a Japanese visa to JVAC - After preparing all the documents and requirements on how to apply for a Japanese visa. You can visit the Japan Visa Application Center (JVAC) located in Kuningan, Jakarta.
  3. Waiting for the Japan visa application process - The Japan visa application process at JVAC usually takes 5 working days. For example, if you apply for a Japan visa on Wednesday, you can check your application at JVAC on Tuesday of the following week.

  1. Original application letter for KITAS cancellation (company letterhead) - draft provided
  2. Original application letter for IMTA cancellation (company letterhead) - draft provided
  3. Color copy of the identity card of the PIC/Director of the sponsoring company (who signed the application letter)
  4. Copy of passport
  5. Original work permit (IMTA)
  6. Color copy of KITAS
  7. Color copy of DPKK fund
  8. Copy of RPTKA
  9. Color photocopy of Foreign Worker Identity Card
  10. Last exit stamp from Indonesian territory
  11. Photocopy of flight ticket from the last departure

    General Questions

    Why do I need to do this?
    If you fail to close your previous visa, you will not be able to obtain another temporary (KITAS) or permanent (KITAP) visa until you close your visa.
    Immigration authorities have the right to interrogate and detain you, for failure to recognize the authority.
    Generally, for employment, your employer should be responsible. If you are unsure, make sure you ask your employer to clarify.
