Who is it for and what are the benefits?
Retiring on an exotic island surrounded by sun, sea and sand is a dream for many. Indonesia is an amazing archipelago consisting of thousands of islands with their own character and charm. Therefore, it is no wonder why every year people decide to enjoy their retirement on one of Indonesia's paradise islands.
To obtain a retirement visa, the process is relatively simple and the requirements are quite straightforward. The main requirement is age, where you must be at least 55 years old to apply.
Once you obtain a retirement visa, there are many benefits, including:
- Free entry and exit of the country
- Ability to rent land
- Allowed to open a bank account.
Steps to obtain your Retirement Visa
- Provide all documentation relevant to the KITAS and we will verify to ensure a successful application.
- All documentation will be uploaded to the online immigration system, Once the visa is authorized, the applicant will receive an E-Visa (Electronic Visa), which they must print out.
- Many applicants are now entering Indonesia using E-Visa.
- Upon arrival in Indonesia, the applicant needs to do biometrics; where they take a profile photo, as well as provide fingerprints.
- KITAS (Residence Permit) will be issued and given to the applicant within 3 days.
- Within 14 days of KITAS issuance, you need to register at the civil department, where you get SKSKPS (Surat Keterangan Keluarga Penduduk Sementara) & STM (Surat Keterangan Polisi).

- Passport with 18 months remaining validity

- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Life and Health Insurance Policy
- House rental agreement for at least 1 year (signed by both parties, must mention the name of the owner, the address of the rented house, the amount of rent, and attach the owner's ID card)
- Declaration/letter to employ an Indonesian maid during the stay in Indonesia, will not work/engage in any business activities, and that you have secured your accommodation
- Maid's ID card
- Pension Fund Statement of at least USD 1,500/month (annual USD 18,000)
- Copy of Marriage Certificate If married

General Questions
How long does a Retirement Visa last?
A retirement visa has a duration of 1 year.
Is there a maximum limit to the number of times I can extend my Retirement Visa?
Yes, the Retirement KITAS can only be extended a maximum of 5 times with an annual extensio
Can I apply for a Permanent Residence Permit (KITAP)?
You can apply for a KITAP, however, you must have obtained a Retirement Visa for the previous 5 years.
To process my initial visa, do I need to visit the Indonesian Embassy, if so where?
Until October 2020, all visas must be collected from Indonesian Embassies abroad, but now the Indonesian Immigration Authority can offer Electronic Visas (E-Visas).
If we are a couple and we both want to retire in Indonesia, can we both apply for a Retirement Visa?
The simple answer is no. If one of you applies for a retirement visa. The spouse can apply for a dependent visa. Retirement visas require quite a lot of supporting documentation and not everyone can provide. Therefore, we would recommend applying for one Retirement Visa and one Dependent Visa.
Can I bring my children with me?
You can bring your children with you if they are under the age of 18.
