Second Home Visa (KITAS)

Second Home Visa (KITAS)

Who is it for and what are the benefits?

Second Home visa holders are entitled to several administrative benefits. One of them is the freedom to bring family members, including spouses, children, and parents. Such benefits help foreigners to apply to live in Indonesia in groups, which will make the process much easier.

As for KITAS holders, a foreigner's residence permit has the opportunity to change to a Second Home visa with certain legal conditions after the new regulations take effect.

However, it should be noted that Second Home Visa holders do not automatically have a work permit in Indonesia.

With these provisions, foreigners and former Indonesian citizens can only stay, make business investments without actively generating income from the state, and choose Indonesia as a retirement destination. To date, there is no information regarding changes in domestic taxpayer status if foreigners obtain a Second Home Visa.

Foreigners who wish to work in Indonesia, need to ensure the existence of a sponsor first before being able to contribute to all taxpayer obligations when generating income in the country.

Who Can Get a Second Home Visa?

Through a press release from the immigration authorities, the Second Home visa in Indonesia is not only available for foreigners. There are provisions regarding who can apply for the new immigration document.

Apart from foreign nationals, former Indonesian citizens are also eligible to apply for a Second Home visa. However, there are certain requirements that must be met before obtaining the visa. Widodo added that the new immigration regulation serves as a non-fiscal incentive.

The Second Home visa is expected to provide a stimulus for foreigners and ex-Indonesian citizens to contribute to Indonesia's economic growth.
