
11,300 People Arrested for Illegal Entry into Saudi Arabia
Jakarta, KORANTRANSAKSI.com – Saudi Arabian authorities have once again demonstrated their firmness in maintaining regional security. In a week-long operation, 11,300 individuals were arrested for violating residency, labor, and border security regulations.
According to an official report from the Saudi Ministry of Interior, the breakdown of the arrests is as follows:
- 6,244 individuals violated residency regulations.
- 3,543 individuals were involved in illegal border-crossing attempts.
- 1,513 individuals were linked to labor law violations.
Of the 1,330 people caught while attempting to enter Saudi territory illegally, the majority originated from:
- 54% Ethiopian nationals
- 43% Yemeni nationals
- 3% Other nationalities
Additionally, 51 individuals were detained while attempting to cross illegally into neighboring countries. Law enforcement did not only target violators; those assisting illegal activities were also apprehended. Fourteen individuals were arrested for involvement in the transportation and concealment of violators.
Severe Penalties for Facilitators
The Saudi Ministry of Interior emphasized that anyone facilitating the entry of illegal immigrants—whether through transportation or providing shelter—will face severe penalties, including:
- Up to 15 years in prison.
- A maximum fine of 1 million Saudi Riyals (approximately IDR 4 billion).
- Seizure of vehicles and assets used in the crime.
Public Urged to Report
The government has also called on the public to play an active role in maintaining security by reporting violations through the following hotlines:
- 911 for the Makkah and Riyadh regions.
- 999 or 996 for all other regions.
Tightened Supervision
These decisive measures are part of Saudi Arabia's efforts to maintain security stability, particularly amidst increasing population mobility and cross-border activities. Authorities asserted that every violation will be prosecuted in accordance with applicable laws, without exception. (RED)
