KPK Raids Safe Houses Again in Customs Case, Seizes Tens of Millions of USD
Jakarta, KORANTRANSAKSI.com – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has conducted searches at several locations suspected to be safe houses used for storing money linked to an alleged corruption case involving import activities at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise.
KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution, Asep Guntur Rahayu, stated, “In the latest developments, we have carried out searches at several locations.”
He further revealed that the searches resulted in the seizure of tens of millions of US dollars, although he did not specify the exact amount. “I somewhat forget the exact figure, but it is indeed in the tens of millions of USD,” Asep said.
He explained that storing money in safe houses has become a common trend in Customs-related corruption cases. “It seems to be a trend. Recently, each case has its own pattern,” he added.
“Some store the money in sacks, others in suitcases, and some in boxes. In this case, it was also stored in safe houses—spread across several locations,” he continued.
The KPK is currently investigating at least two alleged corruption cases within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. The first case involves alleged bribery in import channels, uncovered during a sting operation (OTT) on February 4, 2026.
This case has named six suspects, including three officials from the Directorate General of Customs and Excise: Rizal, former Director of Enforcement and Investigation; Sisprian Subiaksono, Head of the Intelligence Sub-Directorate for Enforcement and Investigation; and Orlando Hamonangan, Head of the Intelligence Section.
In this case, there is an alleged conspiracy involving Orlando, Sisprian, and the owner of PT Blueray, John Field, to arrange import routes for goods entering Indonesia. PT Blueray is an import intermediary or forwarding company.
The second case involves alleged gratuities and was uncovered as a development from the first case. In this case, KPK has named Budiman Bayu Prasojo, Head of the Customs Intelligence Section at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, as a suspect.
He is suspected of instructing his subordinate, Salida Asmoaji, an employee at the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation, to receive and manage funds from business actors. Evidence includes Rp 5 billion in cash stored in five suitcases at a safe house in Ciputat, South Tangerang. (TIM)
