Selection for Director General of Immigration Halted Following Presidential Decree
Jakarta, KORANTRANSAKSI.com – The Ministry of Immigration and Corrections has officially terminated the open selection process for the position of Director General (Dirjen) of Immigration on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. This decision follows the issuance of a Presidential Decree on the Appointment of Senior High Leadership Officials within the Ministry, which formally designates the Director General of Immigration.
Head of the Data, Information, and Public Communication Center of the Ministry, M. Akbar Hadi Prabowo, stated, “With the issuance of the Presidential Decree, we will not proceed with the results of the first stage of the selection.”
Akbar further explained that the government exercised its authority to ensure continuity in leadership as well as the execution of institutional duties and functions. Therefore, the Ministry decided to discontinue the open selection process for the Director General of Immigration position. “Meanwhile, the selection process for the Head of the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) will continue as planned,” he added.
Previously, the Ministry had reopened the selection process for the Director General of Immigration position. This marked the second wave of selection after the committee shortlisted three candidates in October 2025.
Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections, Silmy Karim, stated that the second wave was conducted to attract a broader pool of candidates. “The first and second waves are part of a continuous selection process, and all results will be taken into account,” Silmy said in an official statement on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
Silmy explained that registration for the second wave was scheduled to take place from March 9 to March 27, 2026. The committee would then proceed with administrative screening over four days, from March 30 to April 2, 2026.
Subsequent stages included managerial and socio-cultural competency assessments, technical competency tests, final interviews, and medical examinations. The second wave of the Director General selection was conducted simultaneously with the selection process for the Head of the Human Resources Development Agency. “We invite civil servants, members of the military and police, as well as non-civil servants to participate in this open selection,” Silmy stated.
Earlier, the selection committee had identified three candidates for the Director General position through a process conducted from July 22 to September 23, 2025. The three candidates were Yuldi Yusman, Ibnu Ismoyo, and Ahmad Purbaja.
The committee subsequently submitted these names to President Prabowo Subianto after announcing them publicly on October 1, 2025. However, as of now, Yuldi Yusman continues to serve as the Acting Director General of Immigration at the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections. (TIM/RED)
