South Jakarta Immigration Arrests Portuguese Interpol Fugitive in Murder and Mutilation Case
Jakarta, KORANTRANSAKSI.com – The Directorate General of Immigration under the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections has arrested a Portuguese national identified as MG (30), a fugitive wanted for a premeditated murder case in his home country. The arrest was carried out by a joint team consisting of the Directorate General of Immigration, the South Jakarta Immigration Office, and the SES team from Interpol Indonesia on Thursday (March 5, 2026).
Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, stated that the arrest followed intelligence indicating that MG would visit the South Jakarta Immigration Office to process his immigration documents. “The joint team then conducted close surveillance at the location since the morning,” said Yuldi.
Arrest Chronology
According to Yuldi, MG arrived at the South Jakarta Immigration Office at around 10:00 AM WIB. Officers secured him after the administrative process was completed. “MG arrived at the location and was immediately apprehended by officers after finishing the administrative process and as he was heading to his vehicle,” he explained.
The arrest was a follow-up to a request for apprehension and detention based on an Interpol Red Notice issued by the International Relations Division of the Indonesian National Police on February 24, 2026.
According to international police records, MG is suspected of involvement in a premeditated murder case in Algoz, Portugal, in March 2020. Together with an accomplice, he allegedly killed a man identified as DG with the intent of seizing compensation funds amounting to €70,000.
Yuldi described the method used in the crime as particularly brutal. “The modus operandi included drugging, strangulation, and attempts to mutilate parts of the victim’s body to access banking data on the victim’s phone before disposing of the body at sea,” he stated.
Yuldi further explained that MG first entered Indonesia on June 10, 2025, prior to a ruling by the European Court of Human Rights related to the case. Initially, MG held a visit stay permit valid for two months.
He later obtained a limited stay permit as a remote worker, valid until July 8, 2026. MG has now been transferred to the Directorate General of Immigration for further examination and is being held in a detention facility. “The arrest process was carried out smoothly and under control,” Yuldi added.
He also confirmed that immigration authorities have processed MG’s deportation. “MG was deported on Monday, March 9, 2026,” he concluded. (ZIK)
